1st Brazilian Consultation on Treaty of Human Rights and Business

The 1st Brazilian Consultation on Treaty of Human Rights and Business will be hold on the 25th and 26th of August.

Next week, on the 25th and 26th of August, the 1st National Consultation on Treaty of Human Rights and Business will take place. The virtual seminar is organized by the Conselho Nacional dos Direitos Humanos – CNDH, Homa – Human Rights and Business Centre of UFJF, Amigos da Terra Brasil, Fundação Friedrich Ebert – Brazil, Justiça Global and Movimento dos Atingidos por Barragens – MAB.

The Brazilian edition integrates a series of efforts to gather suggestions of the Latin American society to the treaty, by consults and discussions similar to the ones that take place in the Comissão de Direitos Humanos e Minorias of The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies.

In the virtual seminar, two meetings are scheduled from 6 pm to 8 pm. In the first day (25th), it will be presented the text of the treaty; a historical overview of the human rights and business agenda and the process of the proposal; presentation of the positions of civil society and the Brazilian State that were gathered so far; and a debate on the text in the Chamber of Deputies. The next day (26th), the participants will debate the elaboration of the proposed work plan and a letter with recommendations to be presented to the Foreign Ministry.

The registrations start today (18th) and end in the 23rd, Sunday.
