Homa participates jointly with Rede de Pesquisa Rio Doce (CDRH\/UFJF-GV, GEPSA\/UFOP, Homa\/UFJF, Organon\/UFES and PoEMAS\/UFJF-UFF), the Comit\u00ea em Defesa dos Territ\u00f3rios frente \u00e0 Minera\u00e7\u00e3o, and the group Terra\/UFJF, of the podcast Cava: minera\u00e7\u00e3o em debate.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The podcast proposes to be another space for information about mining and debates on the Brazilian mining model. With it, we want to develop other means to talk to the people that discuss the mining process or suffers from the impacts caused by it.<\/p>\n

The Cava proposal emerged in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic when the groups that integrate the Rede de Pesquisa Rio Doce (CDRH\/UFJF-GV, GEPSA\/UFOP, Homa\/UFJF, Organon\/UFES e PoEMAS\/UFJF-UFF) discussed on how the social distancing measures could hinder the mobilization, the organization, and the fighting for the rights of the people affected by the Fund\u00e3o dam collapse and affected in general by mineral extraction projects.\u00a0 Therefore, in conversation with friends of the Terra\/UFJF, that have already been developing activities linked to scientific communication, and with the Comit\u00ea, the Cava was born.<\/p>\n

The podcast is inspired by successful initiatives such as\u00a0Copi\u00f4 Parente<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0Instituto Socioambiental<\/a>, and the\u00a0jornal\u00a0A Sirene<\/a>, created by the people affected by the disaster in the Rio Doce valley. Assuming that knowledge is built through sharing, the program seeks to create and strengthen solidarity links, disseminate knowledge, and provoke a contextualized debate. In our biweekly meetings, we intend, based on the experience of people who are in the territories impacted by mining, to talk about adversities and challenges, as well as strategies and solutions in the fight against mining.”<\/p>\n
